![]() “‘The Fighter’ is one of the best films I’ve ever seen where (the issue of) class is present.” MacDonald, an adjunct professor at Northeastern University, says he’s not against films that deal with serious issues in a thoughtful way. “You’re talking about a whole new population that doesn’t have the history.” “About 50 percent of Southie residents have lived there for less than five years,” MacDonald continued. “When you’re dealing with really important issues that affect people’s lives at the core … it’s wrong to mess around.” ![]() “They’re dealing with a place that has a history of organized crime and class disparity issues … things that could easily be messed with in a way that’s just wrong,” MacDonald said. ![]() MacDonald, 45, who was not involved with the film, lives in New York City but still keeps tabs on his old neighborhood, saying he’s concerned about a proposed reality show on Southie by the creators of the MTV’s “Jersey Shore.” ![]()
